Free Presbyterian Position Requires Statement

The Free Presbyterian Church has published a statement announcing its protest against the proposed Papal visit to England. It is duplicity for the Free Presbyterian Church to protest against the Papal visit, while its ministers and members support terrorist inclusive government at Stormont.

Some years ago the Papacy supported the IRA hunger strikers, now the FPC supports the power sharing executive which includes former IRA members and sympathisers. This is a position which Free Presbyterians need to consider before they seek to protest against the Papal visit, such a protest will serve only to highlight the Church's compromised position pertaining to evangelical protestantism and spiritual separation.

Retired Free Presbyterian minister Rev Ivan Foster said back in 2007, that Rev Ian Paisley's fellow-shipping with Sinn Fein was not a reflection of the position adopted by the FPC. Mr Foster pointed to the Presbytery statement of 1998 against the 'Good Friday Agreement, which condemned 'power sharing with murderers, as unscriptural, unethical and immoral'.

The situation now is that there are ministers that preach in Free Presbyterian pulpits who are subject to their presbytery, that have actively supported the very power sharing arrangements which they have already condemned as 'unscriptural, unethical and immoral'. These ministers enjoy presbytery support while at the same time ignoring presbyteries former statement on the matter.

So how can the FPC presbytery propose a protest against the unscriptural position of the Papacy while at the same time approving support of a terrorist inclusive government? I have emailed the current moderator of presbytery, Rev R Johnston, and requested a copy of presbyteries current position on terrorist inclusive government.

  1. Rev. Cotton,

Have you read the latest commentary by "Rev. Ian Paisley" at the Belfast News Letter today here:
'Pope Benedict is given a dressing down'
    Link: http://www.newsletter.co.uk/columnists/Pope-Benedict-is-given-a.6231329.jp

In his remarks regarding the R.C. Clergy abuse scandal made here: 'Questions the Pope must answer'
    Link: http://www.newsletter.co.uk/columnists/Questions-the-Pope-must-answer.6183150.jp
on 26 March 2010, as in his most recent one,
he stops short as the expression goes . . . in his condemnation of the "great whore", and makes no reference whatsoever to the R.C. Institution being the “false church”, the "MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH", nor the papacy as being the very seat of the Antichrist.

Judging from these latest commentaries, which can only be described as lukewarm, it must have been a real strain for him to find words that would not offend anyone!
No doubt one of the pre-conditions and/or accommodations Mr. Paisley was required to make in order to forge the political alliance that led to the formation of the present power-sharing government of N.I., preceded by a secret meeting with the then Archbishop Sean Brady, required him to embrace the gospel of political correctness . . the gospel of tolerance and peace and prohibited him from making such references. Emptied of TRUTH, his words ring hollow and there is no weight or substance to them.

In truth . . in light of his severely compromised witness, he has no credibility to speak to these matters.
The forfeiture of His Stand for the Truth was the high price he was willing to pay to be both politician and preacher. It is the gospel of peace he was called to preach, not the gospel of national peace, and in this he has erred from the faith. He has thoroughly imbibed the false ecumenism of Rome!

His two worlds have effectively collided . . that of man of the people and man of God! God's Word is without ambiguity. . those who seek to appease man, can never please God.

While he calls “pope” Benedict to repentance, he has shown none himself!

  2. Rev. Cotton

Recently I made the following inquiry at FPC Minister, Rev. Brian McClung's blog, 'The Sound of an Alarm', in an effort to obtain a copy of their Presbytery's current position on terrorist inclusive government, to which I received an answer today.
The text of my comment made in connection with Rev. McClung's post entitled: 'An attack upon our civil and religious liberties' and his response follows:

    Rev. McClung,

In answer to my question . .

Has the FPC Presbytery issued a formal statement to clarify precisely where their denomination stands with respect to murderers in government and/or the terrorist-inclusive Stormont administration?

    you have answered "YES".

In answer to my request to post that statement, you said:

"Sorry, the 'comment section' doesn't have the facility to attach documents."

Could you post the link to the document for the benefits of the readers of your blog?

    Regards,

    Rev. Cotton,

How odd that this document which outlines the present position of the FPC Presbytery regarding terrorists in government exists, as so stated by Rev. McClung, but conveniently is not in the public domain.
I do hope you are able to secure a copy of this elusive document from Rev. Johnstone and will post it here for the benefit of the readers of your blog.
